Replacement flume floors (aka "magic bottoms") are designed to correct installation problems associated with setting a flume too low in relation to the channel surrounding channel. They are also useful in correcting installations that have experienced settling.
By raising the floor of the flume, the flume can be taken out of a submerged flow condition. This is desirable as the cost and complexity of accurately measuring submerged flow are considerably more than measuring free flows.
Replacement flume floors are available for Parshall, Montana, and Cutthroat flumes in thicknesses from 1" to 12" or more. The construction of replacement floors depends upon the flume size and replacement floor thickness.
Replacement floors are available as:
- Solid, single-pieces
- Fiberglass shells (filled with concrete / steel)
- Multi-piece assemblies
- With integral approach aprons
