Industrial Flow Monitoring with a Parshall Flume

At industrial sites where a Packaged Metering Manhole has been installed it is quite common to see a Parshall flume integrated into the manhole.

As part of a site visit to assist a local customer, Openchannelflow personnel took the video below to help visualize what a Parshall flume in operation looks like.

The particular flume in question is a 3” Parshall (the style / size of flume most commonly used to measure industrial flows) and was manufactured by Free Flow Inc. (formerly of Gretna, NE) as part of their Packaged Metering Manhole.

Over the flume a Pulsar dBMach 3 ultrasonic sensor is mounted using a modular, adjustable stainless steel ultrasonic mounting bracket manufactured by Openchannelflow.
