Traditionally flumes are used to measure at or below grade flows. These flow are commonly natural channels (gullies, swales, creeks, streams, and rivers) or manmade channels (treatment plants or storm drains) / piping. For these applications the flume can either be cast in place or integrated into a Packaged Metering Manhole or precast manhole / vault structure. But what happens when the flow to be measured in piped and above grade? For those applications, Openchannelflow offers two solutions: flume support stands and integral support legs.
A flume support stand is exactly what it sounds like: a stand (fixed or adjustable) designed to cradle or support a standard construction flume (or flume enclosure).
The stand is fabricated from 304 or 316 stainless steel and supports all of the major sections of the flume assembly - inlet end adapter, flume, and outlet end adapter. Stands are suitable for installations typically 3' high and above.
For shorter installations support legs can be molded direclty onto the flume assembly. The legs are typically attached at the juctions of the flume and the end adapters. At the bottom of each leg an adjustable leveling feet are typically provided to allow for fine adjustament of the flume. Support legs are suitable for raising the floor of a flume from 6" to 3'-6" above the surface grade.
