Stainless Steel H Flumes

Openchannelflow Stainless Steel H Flume with approach section - inlet stub - staff gaugeStainless Steel H Flumes are an attractive option when standard fiberglass construction will not meet an application's corrosion, temperature, abrasion, or damage resistance needs.

Stainless Steel Advantages

Stainless steel H Flumes from Openchannelflow are available in both T-304L and T-316L stainless steel. The flumes are corrosion / high temperature resistant, economical (for the right applications), resist abrasion / damage, and are available with a selection of accessories and mounting / end configuration options.

Contact Openchannelflow for additional details.

Correcting H Flume Flow Submergence

While it is desirable for a flume to have free, unimpeded discharge, it can be difficult to guarantee this under all flow conditions.  H Type flumes have particularly low resistance to submergence, with submergence transitions of only 30%. The submergence transition of an H…

Mounting HS / H / HL Flumes

Although initially developed to measure runoff from watersheds and experimental plots, the H Flume has proven to be quite flexible in its mounting configurations. H Flumes can be a part of a fiberglass packaged metering manhole, free-standing, or embedded in concrete or earthen…

H Flume Maintenance

The H series of flumes have shown themselves to be excellent at monitoring flows in irrigation channels and even industrial discharges.  One of the reasons that H flumes work so well is their ability to pass solids.  Another advantage of H flumes is their ability to…

Available in two grades, stainless steel H Flumes provide excellent resistance to corrosive acidic / basic flow streams - particularly useful in acid mine discharge and landfill leachate applications.

Stainless steel construction also eliminates the concerns typical with fiberglass flumes - flow streams with sustained peak temperatures above 140 ºF [60 ºC] where exotic (and expensive) resin systems would be necessary.

The heavy gauge construction of Openchannelflow stainless steel H Flumes provide the greatest resistance to abrasion and damage resistance of any flume material.  This resistance is particularly valuable in applications where the flow stream contains sands, gravel, stones or where the flume is subject to potential abuse - vandalism, cattle, etc.

While stainless steel H Flumes do cost more than standard polyester resin fiberglass ones, many times they are more cost competitive than fiberglass in applications where polyester resins are not suitable.

While not as many accessories or mounting / end configuration options are available for stainless steel H Flumes, Openchannelflow still offers a considerable range.
