Walls / Roofs
Triple sealed
Each shelter starts with our close molded, overlapping panel design. The design ensures that for water to ingress it has to find a path over / through multiple overlapping panel connections. Outside joints are sealed with long lasting, weather resistant silicone caulk. Inside each panel-to-panel connection is fiberglassed and then additionally secured with 316 stainless steel connecting screws. The result is three barriers to weather intrusion.
All wall paneled have a molded-in, no maintenance tile pattern design on the outside, resulting in an aesthetically pleasing structure that blends in to the most visible of locations. The shelters are offered in one for four standard colors:
- Polar White
- Storm Gray
- Desert Tan
- Utility Green
For applications where you need something a little more custom, just select from one of our many available RAL colors and we’ll do the rest. Keep in mind that walls, doors, and roof panels are all molded separately, so each can be their own color! For aviation applications we also offer checkerboard white / aviation orange wall panels with aviation orange roofs.
Unlike surface paints, the color is molded-into and chemically bonded each wall / roof / door surface. So, there’s nothing to chip or flake, nothing to repaint. The only maintenance that should be required is an occasional surface wash down with a mild cleaner and periodic inspection / maintenance on the secondary seam caulking.
On each inside surface, 1/4” marine grade plywood is encapsulated over the insulating core. This serves to enhance wall rigidity, provide additional screw retention strength, and provide a clean, attractive interior finish that is worthy of your investment. Utilizing X-Web manufacturing means that the insulating core and plywood reinforcements are isolated from each other, the weather, and the interior environment. With X-Web, multiple, continuous, watertight fiberglass cells, webs, and beams are formed to provide incredible panel rigidity and superior strength.
The standard insulating core is 1-inch [2.54 cm] thick, providing an initial R value ~7. As your insulating requirements change, additional insulating cores can be added, up to R~28. As each insulation core is added, that core is encapsulated in its own fiberglass cell. So that as the insulation increases, so does the panel’s rigidity and strength.
For applications where high wind or snow loads are anticipated, the interior reinforcement can be increased and / or reinforcement can be encapsulated under the exterior skin with its molded-in tile appearance. Standard designs are available that can accommodate wind loads of up to 175 mph [281 kph] and fresh snow loads up to 30’ [9.1 m] deep.
Finally, for applications that require either no embedded wood or which require even higher strengths, structural foams of varying densities can be substituted for the encapsulated plywood inside and out, creating the ultimate in shelter strength and survivability.
